SEC 511 - ESL Topics for Non-ESL Secondary Teachers
Introduces secondary pre-service teachers to the field of English as a second language, including issues of cross-cultural communication, ESL methodology, assessment and curriculum adaptation. Focuses on helping secondary educators meet the needs of immigrant language learners, those with limited formal schooling, and long-term English language learners in individual content areas (mathematics, social studies, sciences, etc.). A 10-hour field experience is required. **Additional liability insurance expense may be necessary.**
