FST 376 - American Cinema 1927-1960
History and aesthetics of American cinema from the beginning of sound film until the break-up of the studio system, focusing on the height of the Hollywood studio era. Classical genres and styles, and prominent Hollywood filmmakers. Three lectures hours and two screening hours each week.
